In the Derbyshire town of Matlock there’s a wonderful shop called Bow which also boasts a delightful tea room called The Cosy Cup. It’s impossible to enter without being highly tempted, either by the gorgeous wares or the wonderful assortment of cakes, or both!

The owner, Susanna, is passionate about her business and this shines through even before you enter; Bow’s kerb appeal wins hands down. The window displays are always thoughtful and fabulous, and as you step inside an indulging journey begins as you meander around the beautiful displays. Expect everything from cards, jewellery and kids toys to both vintage and contemporary homewares.

A visit requires dedicated time, and make sure you allow for tea and cake in The Cosy Cup. Here, the beautiful decor and attention to detail continues. I love the wallpaper with saucers and thoughtful little messages at the bottom of the cups. And the cakes are amazing, all handmade locally with lots of layers, many oozing with cream. Enjoy!
